Meteor 3-6: APT 137.30 *NEW* ON ?? Meteor 3-5 is over the terminator (more or less), so no APT could be received at my station. *NEW* Meteor 3-6 (launched JAN 25) was quiet during orbit #57 around 10.30 UT, transmitted APT during orbit #58 descending at about 12.20 UT and was quiet again orbit #59 around 14.09 UT. A gif-image of the europe-pass orbit #58 is available for anon ftp at ftp.gmd.de, dir images/satellites, file M60129first.gif, together with a ascii-description named M60129first.txt The signal was good but seemed to be somewhat overmodulated. NOAA-10 is off due to VHF-conflict with NOAA-12, should become active again FEB 01 6.00 UT due to info from wxsat-mail-list. And: Meteor 2-21 is weak as always. +------------------------------------------+ |Peter Henne (peter.henne@gmd.de) | | (henne@gmd.de) | |German Nat.Research Center.f.Comp.Science | |D-53757 St.AUGUSTIN, Germany | +------------------------------------------+ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Jan 1994 16:05:36 GMT From: nntp.ucsb.edu!library.ucla.edu!agate!spool.mu.edu!darwin.sura.net!mlb.semi.harris.com!dw3f.ess.harris.com!rstackho@network.ucsd.edu Subject: HELP: NOAA10 element sets wrong? To: ham-space@ucsd.edu Can anyone confirm that the past element sets for NOAA 10 are correct? We are tracking all birds but NOAA 10 correctly. We found that NOAA 10 was over Florida when we were tracking it over the poles. Anyone else been correctly or incorrectly tracking it over this weekend? Please send replies directly to my email address, thanks in advance! ------------------------------ Date: 3 Feb 94 08:30:37 GMT From: ogicse!emory!nntp.msstate.edu!saimiri.primate.wisc.edu!caen!kuhub.cc.ukans.edu!shdomaji@network.ucsd.edu Subject: Inexpensive GPS To: ham-space@ucsd.edu I have been intrested in global positioning. I have seen units for under $600, and pc interface and logging is available. Do the makers of these units pay for the service of the satalites. (Can these signals be received with pc software and receiver or receivers and used for global positioning.) Do GPS units have multiple receivers {3}, or a single receiver that receives timed signals from multiple satalites. I would appreciate any info or source of info on this subject. Or a site that has GPS software.
